Welcome to the Launch Edition of HPDE Magazine

It’s an incredible honor to serve as your editor, curating content that celebrates a hobby and lifestyle that means so much to me—and I’m sure, to you as well. Few things excite me more than the thought of pushing my car to its limits on some of the country’s most iconic race tracks.

I vividly remember one of my first track days at Lime Rock Park. It was a workday, and like many of you, I was playing a bit of hooky. (After all, when you’re self-employed, there are no true “vacation days.” Every day off feels like a sin!) The day was perfect—warm, yet not too hot—and I distinctly remember thinking to myself, “Thank you, God, for the chance to spend my day here, at this remarkable track, driving my incredible sports car, surrounded by people who are just as passionate as I am.”

It was in that moment that I truly found my place. To say I was hooked would be an understatement. I’m sure many of you can relate—this sport has a way of pulling you in and never letting go. You’ve heard of the “slippery slope,” right? Well, like many of you, I’m still sliding down it.

Before I discovered the track, I can honestly say I didn’t have any deep, meaningful friendships. I had acquaintances—mostly the husbands of my wife’s friends—but none of them shared my passion for cars. I always felt like a fish out of water at social gatherings, where most people were discussing things I just couldn’t relate to. I’m not really into traditional sports unless they involve four wheels, and that’s not exactly a common interest, as I’m sure you know. But then I found my tribe—people who, like me, live for the thrill of the track. When you meet someone who shares that same intense passion, it’s like reconnecting with an old friend. There’s an instant connection, and you can talk for hours, as if you’ve known each other since grade school. That’s one of the beautiful things about this sport—it’s not just about the cars or the track; it’s about the friendships and the community that form around it. We’re not just a group of car enthusiasts; we’re a family.

This magazine is my way of contributing to the growth of this amazing community. I hope you

find inspiration on these pages—whether it’s discovering new tracks to visit, gear to enhance your experience, or stories that resonate with your own journey.

Thank you for being part of this adventure with me. I can’t wait to see you at the track, so don’t be shy—come find me and say hello. After all, you can never have too many track buddies!
